Meet the Chef

I’m Robbe Reddinger, the founder and writer of this newsletter. I’m the senior editor for Believe in the Run, the number one site for running shoe and running gear reviews online, and also co-host of one of the most listened to running podcasts in America (The Drop). I also have bylines in a variety of other publications, including Runner’s World, Men’s Health, and Washington Monthly.

I grew up outside of Hershey, Pennsylvania, surrounded by farmland and not much else. I read a ton of books, climbed a lot of trees, and went camping often. I also loved to play baseball, skateboard, and write terrible poetry. Since then, I graduated with an English Education major, didn’t use it, joined a band, toured around the country for most of my twenties, playing over 700 shows in 42 states. Worked over 30 different jobs, moved to Baltimore 13 years ago, settled down as a technical editor for the U.S. Coast Guard, hated cubicle life, took a big risk, swung hard, joined Believe in the Run, and hit a home run.

In my running life, I’ve reviewed hundreds of running shoes (that have taken over my house), I’ve run 8 marathons, and 5 ultramarathons, and have traveled the world meeting some of the most incredible people in the sport.

I live in Baltimore with my wife and two boys, who are everything to me.

What’s Suppertime?

I’ve told myself for years that I’ll start writing consistently, something I’ve always struggled with. Tired of waiting for inspiration to strike, I just decided it’s time to do it, once a week, no matter what.

That’s how Suppertime was born: a weekly newsletter on a topic that’s relevant to me, either in the moment, or in general. I’ll always start with a moment of gratitude, much like the prayers of thanks my parents always said around the dinner table growing up. From there, a smaller appetizer related to the theme, followed by a main course, and finally, a dessert.

I’ll also include what music I’m listening to and what books I’m reading, and maybe some other things as well.

I’m not sure what the end goal is supposed to be, I just know I have a lot of stories from the lives I’ve been lucky enough to live, and I hope you find something meaningful in them.

Thanks for following along, I hope you’ll subscribe and share it with others as well.

A weekly rundown of things that satisfy, organized around a theme, served in four courses. Some wit, some humor, some things I've learned over the past four decades of life.

Living in Baltimore, trying to find trouble to get into and out of. Writing about my life, which has been wonderfully weird.
