You had me at Slurpees. And nostalgia. I don't know that the 90s were the best of times, I don't have another youth to compare it to, but it's hard to stop thinking about how amazing they were. No Rain and Black Hole Sun also have that same pull for me, to name just a few.
We walked behind a dad and his 8 year old son today. Both had long, straight blonde hair. No shirts on, golden tan and no shoes, let alone socks. That's the look in Hawaii that is in all day, every day, and I love it! It doesn't matter what generation you belong to, Hawaiian men of the northshore stick to what works.
First time I heard 1979, I was in the Ferrell's basement at their highland hills house, which used to be the Eastham's house. We listened to both CDs start to finish.
Oh yea! There are a few others from the 90s that do that for me: Interstate Love Song and My name is Jonas. I remember where I was and what we were doing and how it felt. The recall is so strong and as you pointed out previously, it's the greatest decade in history, so why not dive through the wormhole?

Yeah man, those both hit hard as well.
My ATM PIN for quite a while. 🤣 Totally different vibe - a bit of the opposite bookend - the Perfect video is a great sequel to 1979.
The sock thing is insane. Tall socks are leg jails.
Thx for the reminder…. Adding 1979 to my run playlist now!

Do you also feel nostalgic when you hear that song? Or like it transports you to how the nineties felt?

A hint on the swimming hole location? Near Philadelphia road?
